responding on coment by aombrad ,yes this is about syd from what i know about the band, this song depicts barret´s decline in life and how lsd totally compromised his wellbeing. The part that really describes how both feel without him is sang at 3:08 when they say we are just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year and also the whole wish you were here in my opinion meaning how he has lost his mind due to constant abuse of Lsd. Nonetheless great piece of music,very emotional
