As you might have guessed, the Pencil tool is used to draw when you desire a sharp edge. The Paintbrush can also be used for drawing but the edge will be softer and somewhat transparent. A new brush can easily be selected by choosing the Brush drop-down menu on the Options Bar. You can even modify the characteristics of the brush you are using. Start by clicking on it in the Options Bar. You should see a dialog box listing modification selections for your choosing. Choices include; brush diameter, hardness, and spacing. Even the brush tip’s angle and roundness can be manipulated!
You will need to select the layer that you want to work on in the Layers Palette. Drawing is done by dragging the mouse.
